Terrier
These animals are of particular use to adventurers, because they are resistant to fear, and are willing to go into even small spaces underground, including tunnels which even a halfling could not fit. On the other hand, they tend to bark, and are easily excitable, potentially following interesting scents which their owners would prefer they ignore. Terriers weigh 1d5+17 pounds, with an average lifespan of 1d3+10 years. Where available, they cost 2d10+2 gp.

This describes any number of small, wiry dogs bred for hunting or flushing small animals, particularly rats and other vermin. When a terrier bites prey, it shakes it violently, doing an additional 1d3 damage. This is generally only useful against prey weighing no more than the dog itself, although the judge may apply this damage to other creatures as conditions warrant.
